So, The majority of the work on this site are pages from this book. Crime, Suspense, and Horror. The book is 54 - pages, color. and pretty wicked. The idea was to get back to the Twilight Zone/Tales from the Crypt type format. I found some really talented writers out there. Issue one offers five stories Everything from cold film noir detective stories to monsters and devils. There was a lot of great artistic talent out there too. The coloring and lettering is really strong.

To be honest, I'd never read a SlamBang Anthology though I'd heard about them at shows before. I agreed to ink some pages for Rory McConville and Brent Giles. The Story was entitled End of the World. It was a really nice, well drawn piece and when I got the finished book I was quite pleased with the whole thing.
If I could spend one day with anyone, from anytime, it might just be Rod Serling. Twilight Zone seriously sparked even more questions in my young brain. He said once, "There is nothing in the dark, that isn't there in the light." Crap, now I had that to worry about. The beauty of that series still astounds me today. How did they make such poetic self contained perfect stories in the runtime that they had? It's a format that's been done many times since, but none as cleanly.
After I started reading comics, it didn't take long for me to gravitate towards Daredevil. The universe seemed unwilling to give Matt Murdock a break. Story after story, you just wondered, could it get any worse for this guy? It did, over and over again.

Jilted Love Collection: Beautiful Version 2

Okay, so here's how this went down. At some point in 2005, my close friend Kenny Caid and I were talking about doing some new comic stuff. He asked "Hey, what ever happened with JLC?" ...
I had no idea what he was talking about. He reminded me of a story I had worked on a year or so before. I dug through my storage and sure as shit, I had an almost finished story. So, I pulled it out and started up on it again.
My girlfriend and I were at disneyland, I started talking to one of the caricature guys. Jan Manligas. He had some really cool paintings he did with Corel Painter. I got him to do the cover on top of one of my drawings. I had my good friend Skyler McConahy do the lettering and sent it off to Comixpress.
This book has a range from truly crap-tacular to actually kinda cool (a couple.) It follows Chase, a former mob hitman, who has to return to the corrupted city he left behind. He is haunted by memories of his wife he murdered and the strange circumstances that forced him to return.
Now this all sounds great online, but when you actually see the book, mmm... not so much.
The great part was Comixpress not wanting to sell the thing on their site, because it was too sexual and violent. here's the letter they sent me:
Wes, . I spoke with the 'powers that be' about your book and it looks like they aren't going to be able to add your title to the online store due to the graphic sexual situations depicted in the book. We can get away with a 'mature content' tag on books with general nudity, but there are some fairly explicit scenes in your book. . I hope you can understand our position. . ~Jodi ComiXpress Service Manager www.comixpress.com
So, that was cool.
I have about 50 of these left. They've been in a box for like three years. When they are gone, they are gone (forever.) I will be selling them here, for like ten bucks. If you buy one of these, I'm not gonna offer you anything cool to go along with it. Just the book. I think we may both have a dirty feeling when it's all over.
Here's a peak of some of the better and worse parts. I think you'll see what I mean about big spectrum here.

You can see here I had big plans to expand the saga. |

| Look at the difference between the picture of Aaron here and the first pic. | |

| For some reason me and Skyler looked pretty tough. What happened to Jan? He is a really nice guy, and an amazing artist. |

| I always kinda dug this page. Maybe this is the sexual situations they were talking about (no it gets a lot worse.) But the mirror in the bathroom thing was always cool to me. |
